Join us as we explore Maro Engel’s insights on how the principles of longevity can benefit not just elite athletes, but anyone looking to enhance their vitality, focus, and resilience in the fast-paced world we live in.

1. How are you getting in your top performance form?

Racing is above all a mental and concentration sport. It’s about your natural talent and ability to handle the car and then to be mentally fit and process all the information quick enough and be concentrated all the time to execute the perfect line, manoeuvre and corner at all times. In order to stay concentrated and focused the body needs to be fit and not get tired from the physical strains that driving a racing car puts on the body. So for me it’s a mix of very defined physical training both cardio and weights and having a clear, rested, fresh and focused mind.

2. Do you believe in biohacking & what’s your biohacking strategy?

That’s a good question. I feel like biohacking sounds so harsh. But I do believe that whatever you do to your body and especially with what you fuel your body has a very big influence on how your body develops. So while I’m not focused on biohacking especially I do pay attention to having a healthy lifestyle in general. For me a healthy lifestyle is a good balance of sport, keeping fit, sleep, healthy food while still enjoying the pleasures of life and having a peaceful mind.

3. What’s your best biohacking discovery so far?

Apart from the mentioned healthy food, sport and sleep I believe happiness is a key element in everything you do and plays a big part in the way you look and the way you are perceived.

4. Do you know your biological age?

35.

5. How do you recover?

Recovery is a big element for me as there is often not much time between races. For me it’s all about hydration, nutrition and sleep. If I respect these three pillars I can really feel a boost of energy coming back immediately.

6. Do you use any technology helping you to stay in best shape?

Mainly on the electrolytes and hydration side. It’s quite impressive to know and feel how much influence all the electro minerals have on our body when you get the right amount and make sure all these elements are running high. It will easily help you to recover twice as fast.

7. What’s your suggestions for readers how to improve their habits? For example exercise, diet, sleep, supplements, habits (general)?

I think discipline is at the essence of everything you do. If you are disciplined to change certain habits or make new habits then you will succeed. The important thing is to be consistent, no change will happen over night. But if you are disciplined, and I know the beginnings are always hard then you can make new habits. Embrace them and also enjoy them then the results will follow.

8. What about mental stimulation and recovery?

I think this is a very important part of everything you do. You need to feel mentally fresh and motivated otherwise you cannot succeed.
